Chain of Love

The first five people to respond to this post will get something made by me! My choice. For you. This offer does have some restrictions and limitations: 1. I make no guarantees that you will like what I make for you! 2. What I create will be just for you. 3. It'll be done this year. 4. You have no clue what it's going to be. It may be a card. It may be a scarf or maybe even some creation I haven't yet dreamed up. I may draw. I may bake you something and mail it to you. It may not be big or impressive. Who knows? Not you, that's for sure! But lets be honest here. This is me and I will likely do something amazing. =) So come on, sign up! 5. I reserve the right to do something extremely strange. The catch? Oh, the catch is that you must re-post this on your blog and offer the same to the first 5 people who do the same on your blog. The first 5 people to post this same blog on their blog and leave a comment telling me they did will win a FAB-U-LOUS homemade gift by me! Let's keep the chain of love going around!!

A Zoo-tiful Day

I know most of you have seen our last trip to the Zoo, but we went to the Zoo again today (70 degree weather) and I couldn't help but show my favorite animal sound of Caroline:

The Elephant.

Thanks to our friend Vicki, we were able to borrow a wagon, and Caroline LOVED it!

She gives you hugs and kisses, and I love it.
She lays on your chest, and I love it.
She breathes so loud, and I love it.
She finds, opens and spills the red food coloring everywhere (Friday morning), and I love it.
She shows her dimples, and I love it.
She says 'No' to everything you say, and I love it.
She sticks out her tongue when she thinks she is doing something really smart, and I love it.

Chicken Pot Pie

Hip Hip Hooray! I successfully pulled the chicken pot pie out of the oven! (I have been itching to make another one after the last incident.) Yum.
I also attempted my first loaf of bread. It was sourdough and yummy. It looks terrible, but I'll try and fix the appearance for next time.

Chicken in the Toes

Every once in a while Caroline finds a crumb of some sort and keeps busy forever (like 10 minutes) trying to put the crumb in her toes. She successfully puts it in her toes and then wiggles them around, the crumb falls out and she starts over. Aaron and I can't help but laugh! Everytime I try to get it on video she giggles and tries to get the camera. In this video she had found a piece of BBQ chicken. I'll keep trying...

Princess Stool

Look what we got in the mail! We opened the box that was for Caroline and inside were peanuts and a purple plastic bag. In the bag, Grandmama sent Caroline her first step-stool and she loves it! Of course there was no note, still in the store plastic bag and receipt!
(Mom always does that, ha ha, she's so silly).
Thanks, Mom!

Caroline loves it.

Even when she falls off the stool.

Smiles for Grandmama.

Traditions

I have always wanted to have memorable, looking forward to-type traditions. We are still developing traditions and more will come our way, but for now I love our Valentine's tradition. We make home-made fabulous cards for one another. Most of the years it takes us hours to make, this year was no exception. How fun it is to receive a card that has had so much time and effort put into it. And the end result, comforting, and always unique, but the same, I love you.

Vivacious Veggie Dip

Last night I attended a Relief Society B-Day dinner for those who have birthdays in the month of January or February. Although my birthday is in May, I was one of the lucky ones to go! I was asked to bring a vegetable tray, and was excited to share the Vivacious Veggie Dip that my Step-Mom shared with me. Everyone loved it, and of course, asked for the recipe. I thought I would share it with the rest of you. Yum!
Vivacious Veggie Dip
2 Cup Mayo
1 Cup Sour Cream
1 package Buttermilk Ranch Dressing
1 Cup shredded Cheese
5 green onions, diced
If possible, mix the first 3 ingredients a few days ahead of time to enhance flavor.
Right before serving, mix cheese and onions. Enjoy!

First Trip to the Zoo

We packed our bags and took Caroline to her very first trip to the Zoo on Saturday. We decided to get a year pass, so we will go back to see the other half of the Zoo on another sunny day. She lasted a few hours, but had a blast! We have been teaching her sign language and lately it has been a focus on animals. She either signs the animal or does the animal sound. I think she loved seeing the animals moving in front of her. Her favorite was the birds and geese (she is most familiar with them).
Our first stop: The Lions.

She didn't want to be in the stroller sitting down after that. So for a few stops she stood up in the stroller. We know... dangerous. Don't worry, we got several looks. She wasn't like that for long.

This is a really BIG Cat. But she says "Meow", and in the middle of the video you hear a sound that sounds like someone is growling. That is Caroline's notorious sound. She has been doing it for over 2 months now, and it isn't the most lady like sound she could make.
We had to watch the pond of ducks.
Caroline signs Tiger in this video. Your hands go across your face, like the stripes of a Tiger.
Little did we know it was a Jaguar.

She signs 'Caroline Sign Language' for Lion. I love her sound with it too.

Sunny Days and not so Perfect Dinners

Aaron informed me that this whole blogging thing is like journal entries (I'm good at that), so I will be a bit better at this blogging adventure...
*
I enjoy cooking. Yesterday I wanted to make a chicken pot pie. So I slow cooked my chicken all afternoon added some chicken broth, a can of cream of chicken soup, some celery, carrots, onions, broccoli (because we didn't have any frozen peas), freshly grounded pepper and a dash of Oregano. I put it in a pie plate. Covered it with a store bought pie crust, much to my Mother's dismay. And I baked it in the oven. When it was done- I pulled it out, while freaking out that Caroline was right behind me and that she just might burn herself in the oven, I thought I put it on the counter. I was wrong. The long awaited for Chicken Pot Pie completely fell off the counter. Heaven intervened somehow and made it upright when it hit the floor. About half was saved! It was delicious... the little that we did have.

I know Denver likes to keep a secret: we really have good weather. It has been 65 the last 2 days, so Caroline and I have made our trips to the playground! She loves the swings! But she also loves to watch the other kids.

I think she saw a bird right before I took the picture
Climbing the stairs to get to the slide.
Our sweetie in the swing.

Catalina Island

Boys will be Boys.
My brother Kyle, Aaron and my Step-Dad, Terry, sure had fun shooting off rockets in the middle of the ocean. I guess this is what a pilot, a lawyer, and a doctor do in their free time! :)
The girls enjoyed the sunshine and warm weather!

Weekend Getaway

Here we are, at Universal Studios!
We had an awesome day.
Caroline's first few weeks of walking!

Grandmama saving Caroline from yucky stuff on the ground.
Are they wet?
Katie, Aaron, Kyle and Caroline about to watch the Shrek film.
